Details in how did Phoenix and Blood Elves build an special bond at first contact is still unknown, but the cheerful behaviour and welcome phoenix did to strangers with cruel intentions made them to just withdraw their original intentions. But phoenix as wise beings recognized that their best survival option was to ally with any intruder that were not these mysterous beings that invaded their homeland first... which Blood Elves and Phoenix cooperated to get rid of them, while phoenix not caring that much about the fall of their previous Altaris alies as they needed urgent to team up with someone for their common enemy.
